Here is the bridge

2020

In the past 60 years many different authorities tried to implement several projects to give Lima an access to the Pacific Ocean. In order to create beaches where there were none, the city administration dynamited the cliff next to the sea in 1960. Two years later a 15 km. highway was built along the shore and since then every year something is modified or constructed in this area. A big amount of cement and other construction materials end up in the edge of the sea and eventually turn into marine rocks.

As part of this project I selected a sample of 40 rocks from the space between the unfinished bridge and the ocean. These objects represent a longtime connection between Lima and the ocean.

Here is the bridge.
